Uberlingen — Letting go of the old and embracing the new: Innovative mid-market companies like attempto GmbH & Co. KG from Aschheim are not afraid of change but see it as an opportunity. This approach convinced the judges in the 27th round of the TOP 100 innovation competition. As of June 19, attempto officially belongs to the TOP 100. In the scientific selection process, the company particularly impressed in size category B (51 to 200 employees) in the categories “Innovation Success” and “External Orientation/Open Innovation.” attempto has now been recognized as a Top Innovator for the third time.
Business models and customer contact channels are changing at a rapid pace, and for this, banks and insurance companies need IT firms like attempto. The Bavarian TOP 100 company combines the production of IT solutions with trend scouting — identifying new trends in society and business. “That is why we cooperate with companies in Silicon Valley and develop and consult on a multidisciplinary basis,” explains Managing Director Berno Breitruck.
In the “attempto Innovation Manufactory,” the employees of the three-time Top Innovator develop IT solutions or pursue new ideas. Bankers and business professionals work hand in hand with software experts and engineers. There is also ongoing exchange with academia, as looking outward is important for attempto. “After all, we want to learn from the best,” says Breitruck.
The results include products such as a financial app and an eco-depot app: the latter was created in collaboration with the environmental organization Fairventures Worldwide. It serves as a personal information and monitoring tool for people who donate to a reforestation project in Borneo (Southeast Asia). Thanks to the app, each donor knows where “their” trees are located, how much CO2 they bind, and how they are growing. “The farmers in Indonesia receive help not only with planting but also with launching a sustainable forestry business,” says Breitruck. He and his team are delighted to contribute to climate protection with this innovative IT solution.
TOP 100: The Competition
Since 1993, compamedia has awarded the TOP 100 seal for outstanding innovation strength and above-average innovation success to mid-market companies. The scientific leadership has been in the hands of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Franke since 2002. Franke is the founder and director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. The mentor of TOP 100 is science journalist Ranga Yogeshwar. Project partners include the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft for the Advancement of Applied Research and the BVMW.
