Project management is no longer solely committed to its own objectives and an efficient course of action — it now faces new challenges: In Germany, clear expectations regarding the social responsibility of companies are increasingly emerging. The times when Milton Friedman’s statement “The social responsibility of business is to increase its profits” could serve as a guiding principle are definitively over. There is a growing demand for companies to ensure that their activities are environmentally friendly, mindful of their social impact, and not at the expense of future generations. All resources must be managed responsibly. This includes using these resources sparingly and efficiently.
