The attempto Innovations-Manufaktur (aim) regularly hosts a discussion forum under the motto “What Matters Tomorrow.” The focus is on current trends and developments, for which leading experts are invited to share their insights with the attempto network.
At the end of November, we had the pleasure of welcoming Professor Dr. Stefan Filipp (Professor of Technical Physics at TU Munich and Director at the Walther-Meißner-Institut of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities) with his compelling presentation on the topic “Quantum Computers – Efficient Solutions for the Most Complex Computational Tasks.” In many cases across business and science, conventional computers are increasingly reaching their limits. In contrast, quantum computers, based on the laws of quantum mechanics, promise to solve certain difficult computational tasks that would overwhelm even future high-performance and supercomputers. Professor Dr. Filipp first explained how quantum computers work before discussing the current state of the technology and the associated challenges. He also presented new areas of application that are emerging as a result.
Together with the invited representatives of our partner companies, we sincerely thank Professor Dr. Filipp for this inspiring insight and the enriching discussions! We are following the developments in this field with great interest and are very much looking forward to the next aim events.
